Dr. M. Akeem Azeez, a Senior Lecturer, obtained his first degree from the former Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti now Ekiti State University 23 years ago with Second Class Upper in Chemistry. He proceeded to the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he bagged Post Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Chemical Engineering) and a Master degree in Engineering (Environmental Engineering) in 2000 and 2003 respectively. He won the Petroleum Technology Trust Fund (PTDF) scholarship for a Postgraduate Studies at the prestigious University of New Castle upon Tyne, United Kingdom, where he obtained M.Sc. degree in Environmental Biogeochemistry in 2005. Upon his return to Nigeria, he dashed back to the University of Ibadan to complete the Master of Science degree programme before his oversea training. He bagged his fourth Postgraduate degree (M.Sc. Inorganic Chemistry) in 2006. In 2007, he was offered a Ph.D. scholarship, by the Federal Republic of Germany through the Deutsche Akademische Austauchdienst (i.e. German Academic Exchange Service [DAAD]). He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany in Chemical Wood Technology, specialised in the conversion of biomass to biofuel in 2011 after spending about four years in Germany including six months in Goethe Institute, where he mastered the German Language and obtained TESDAF certification. From 2013 to 2014, Dr. Azeez was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of KwaZulu Natal, Durban, South Africa. He researches in the area of biorefinery, green chemistry, catalysis, biomass conversion and environmental chemistry. He has published several papers in learned international journals of high repute and books.
