Welcome to one of the oldest Departments in Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti Nigeria. We offer variety of courses and programmes in the broad field of Earth Science involving students in coursework, independent research and field work trainings building on our several years of experiences. Students’ industrial experience is compulsory to compliment the regular classroom sessions and the inter-semester field trips.

The Department has fifteen academic staff with diverse teaching and research interests which span through all aspects of geosciences. Currently, the Department offers B.Sc., PGD (to accommodate students with deficiency at undergraduate level), M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Geology, with options in Petroleum Geology, Geochemistry, Sedimentology, Palaeontology, Mineral Exploration, Engineering Geology/Hydrogeology and Applied Geophysics.

The programmes of the Department of Geology, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti Nigeria are designed to provide excellence in both teaching and research such that Graduates from the Department will work as professional Geologists in government parastatals, higher institutions of learning, research institutes, industries and consulting organizations in Nigeria and all over the globe. Graduates from the Department will be capable of self-employment after graduation.
