I welcome you to the Department of Statistics, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. This is one of the Departments in the Faculty of Science.  The Department took off as an option in the Department of Mathematical Sciences in 2002. The Department gained autonomy as a Department on July 15, 2016 with twelve academic members of staff and Prof. R.A. Adeleke as the pioneer Head of Department. The Department is made up of capable scholars and academic that handle teaching and research activities within and outside the University.  Members of staff are active researchers in their various fields and this is evident in the running of the postgraduate programmes (P.G. D, M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D.) in areas such as Probability and Stochastic processes, Sampling and Survey Techniques, Environmental Statistics and Econometrics.

The Department has a computer laboratory shared with Computer Science with different statistical packages for teaching and learning. Also offers Statistics to students from other Departments in the University who require Statistics as part of their foundational courses. The teaching staff are quite friendly and approachable as they discharge their duties. Thus, the environment of the Department is warm for academic activities. You are highly welcome.
